Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, the Pritzker Military Library has achieved remarkable things over the last five years. We’ve produced over 200 free, public events featuring presentations by award-winning authors and scholars, compelling interviews with Medal of Honor recipients, and panel discussions on timely issues facing the military and our nation. Our hosts, Ed Tracy and John Callaway, have brought these events to a rapidly growing audience live, on television, and over the Internet via webcasts and audio podcasts. And we’ve developed a world-class collection of military and historical books, videos, artwork, photographs, uniforms, medals, and other fascinating artifacts that tell the story of the Citizen Soldier in America.

Each year, the Liberty Gala underwrites the free, public programming of the Pritzker Military Library. It also gives us occasion to honor the people who have made these achievements possible.


On Saturday, October 4th, 2008, we’ll pay tribute in three ways:

• The Second Annual Pritzker Military Library Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement in Military Writing. We'll recognize historian Allan R. Millett, whose work has profoundly enriched the public understanding of military history.


• The Founder's Award. We'll give thanks to an individual or an organization for an extraordinary contribution to the mission of the Pritzker Military Library and the preservation of the heritage of the Citizen Soldier.


• The Citizen Soldiers of Today. We'll host the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses as our honored guests.
