Welcome
The Liberty Gala honors the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, past and present. Representatives from every branch of the Armed Forces are the Library's special guests at this black tie event. They join over 500 guests for a great evening of dinner, celebration and entertainment. Proceeds from the Liberty Gala support the Library's free, weekly programs for live and broadcast audiences.

Among the highlights of the evening are the presentations of three special awards. The Library's President and Founder, COL (IL) James N. Pritzker IL ARNG (Ret.), presents the Pritzker Military Library Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement in Military Writing. Sponsored by the Tawani Foundation, the award honors a living author for a body of work that has profoundly enriched the public understanding of American military history. Also sponsored by the Tawani Foundation is the Colby Award, which recognizes a first work of fiction or non-fiction that has made a significant contribution to the public's understanding of intelligence operations, military history, or international affairs. Finally, the Library also recognizes the remarkable civic and philanthropic efforts of an individual or organization with the Founder's Award.
